  • Dry & Dust-Free: Keep your suitcases, hiking boots, and supplies protected from Iceland's unpredictable rain and the fine volcanic dust of the interior.
  • Volume: The truck bed offers significantly more cubic space than a standard SUV, easily accommodating 5–7 large suitcases or bulky outdoor equipment.
  • Security: The hardtop cap is fully lockable, providing a secure "vault" for your belongings while you hike.

Highland Ready (Standard Air Intake)

  • F-Road Certified: The Hilux is legally permitted and mechanically built for all Icelandic F-roads, including steep inclines and rocky trails.
  • No Snorkel - Shallow Fording Only: This specific model does not have a snorkel (raised air intake). While it has excellent factory ground clearance for rocky paths, it is limited to shallow-water crossings only. For deep rivers like those in Þórsmörk, we recommend our modified Land Cruisers.
  • Rear Locking Differential: For particularly slippery or steep gravel sections, the Hilux features a locking rear diff to ensure maximum traction.

New 2026 Road Tax & Reduced Fuel Prices

Effective January 1, 2026, Iceland has transitioned to a "pay-as-you-use" road tax model. This government regulation shifts infrastructure funding from fuel duties to actual distance driven, ensuring a fairer system for all vehicle types.

The Benefits:

30% Lower Fuel Prices: Refueling at the pump is now significantly cheaper as specific government excise duties have been removed.

Petrol: Approx. ISK 94 ($0.75) lower per liter.

Diesel: Approx. ISK 87 ($0.69) lower per liter.

The Kilometer Fee:

For this booking, a daily charge of 1.390 ISK will be added to the rental settlement.
