F-Road Approved: The RAV4 Hybrid Luxury is fully permitted on standard F-roads (such as the F35 Kjölur route) where a 4WD vehicle is legally required.

No River Crossings: While capable on gravel and steep tracks, the RAV4 is not designed for unbridged river crossings. Its air intake and sensitive hybrid components are not protected from deep water. We recommend this vehicle for "Dry" Highland routes only.

New 2026 Road Tax & Reduced Fuel Prices

Effective January 1, 2026, Iceland has transitioned to a "pay-as-you-use" road tax model. This government regulation shifts infrastructure funding from fuel duties to actual distance driven, ensuring a fairer system for all vehicle types.

The Benefits:

30% Lower Fuel Prices: Refueling at the pump is now significantly cheaper as specific government excise duties have been removed.

Petrol: Approx. ISK 94 ($0.75) lower per liter.

Diesel: Approx. ISK 87 ($0.69) lower per liter.

The Kilometer Fee:

For this booking, a daily charge of 1.390 ISK will be added to the rental settlement.
