Iceland has several glaciers, and all of them can easily be accessed, both for those more experienced or those who seek to make a lifelong dream come true. The south coast area of Iceland has most of the glaciers, including Vatnajokull glacier, the largest glacier in Europe.

Close to the town of Vik, just over two hours drive from Reykjavik is three glaciers, Solheimajokull glacier, Myrdalsjokull glacier, which covers the active volcano Katla and the famous Eyjafjallajokull glacier that erupted in 2010. Hiking on those glaciers is very doable and highly recommended as a day tour from Reykjavik.
