If you plan to head up to the northern part of Iceland, you won’t be able to miss going through Akureyri, Iceland´s fourth largest town. The town is beautiful with plenty of restaurants, bars, museums, a must visit swimming pool and the most famous ice cream shop in Iceland, Brynju Ice cream parlor. The church in the center of the town is its most famous landmark. Close to the church is the art museum of Akureyri along with local craft stores. The habitats of Akureyri are also knowns for their eccentrics and adventurish versions of common food such as pizza and hot dogs, so we encourage you to try it and ask for the popular local versions when ordering. Also, 10 minutes away from the town center the Christmas House, a store, open all year round. A visit there is an experience you don’t wont to miss out on.
